Free Computer Recycling in Genesee County

Have an old desktop, laptop, or pile of computer parts? Call or text Subtronics first. We can help decide whether it is worth repairing, then recycle eligible computer equipment for free if repair does not make sense.

No storefront drop-off.
Subtronics is a mobile/home-office service business. Start by calling or texting 810-280-2222 with the computer details, issue, and a few photos if possible.

Repair, recycle, or replace?

Not every old computer belongs in the recycle pile. Some systems only need an SSD, RAM, cleaning, power supply, Windows repair, or a simple hardware fix.

Diagnostic fee: $65. If we perform diagnostic work and you approve the repair, the full $65 is applied toward the job. If repair is not worth it, we can discuss free recycling for eligible computer equipment.

Free recycling for eligible computer equipment

  • Desktop computers and gaming PCs
  • Laptops and small form factor PCs
  • Motherboards, graphics cards, RAM, CPUs, coolers, and power supplies
  • Storage drives, cables, chargers, keyboards, mice, and computer accessories

TVs, CRT monitors, large appliances, batteries, and non-computer electronics may not be accepted or may require a separate disposal option.

Optional Secure Data Handling

Recycle as-is

Free recycling for eligible items when you do not need a data wipe, drive return, or destruction service.

Secure data wipe

For working drives, we can perform a secure wipe before recycling and provide a simple service receipt showing the drive was erased.

Physical drive destruction

For customers who want the drive physically destroyed instead of reused, ask about drive destruction before the equipment is processed.

Tell us before recycling begins if a drive contains private files, business records, photos, passwords, tax documents, or anything else you want protected.

How it works

  1. Call or text 810-280-2222 with the device type, symptoms, and photos if available.
  2. We help decide whether a phone consult, on-site diagnostic, or recycling conversation makes sense.
  3. If the system may be repairable, we schedule diagnostic service.
  4. If repair is not worth it, eligible computer equipment can be recycled at no additional recycling charge.

Why Subtronics handles it this way

Free recycling is meant to keep useful computer hardware out of the landfill while giving each computer one last chance to be repaired or reused.

That means we do not advertise a public drop-off address, do not ask customers to haul equipment across town blindly, and do not promise that every item has resale or repair value. We start with an honest conversation, then recommend the most practical next step.
